The footsteps of our contributing to the improvement of our living standard by resource exploitation. In May 1931, the Otaki Natural Gas Co., Ltd. was established as the first business specializing in natural gas in Japan. In 1956, the sales and distribution division was separated as a subsidiary (current Otaki Gas Co., Ltd.), and we changed our corporate name to Kanto Natural Gas Development Co., Ltd. on January 1st, 1957 with the hope for further growth of our business. In the early years of the company, business was centered around the Otaki district. Later, operations expanded to the Mobara area.
Our operations, centered around Mobara City, Chiba Prefecture have continued to expand over the years. Natural gas production by volume and by sales have shown significant growth. Since 1937, We promptly advance to the business of the iodine in Japan, seeking higher added value. Today, as a developer of valuable domestic resource in Japan, we conduct research and development for efficient production of natural gas, while also having an awareness of consideration toward environmental aspects. Seeking higher added value through the development of iodine derivatives is one example of our persistent efforts as Japan's leader in natural gas development.
